Associate Professor of Visual and Media Arts
Jim Sheldon is a true Renaissance man – in addition to being a documentary filmmaker, he is also an art historian, photographer, curator, and teacher. Jim's latest role as a new media producer allows him to combine his interests. His work in new media includes web projects and interactive CD-ROMs, and his client list ranges from art museums to various public and private foundations.
Among Jim's projects is a set of videos that was installed as a major component of Dangerous Curves: The Art of the Guitar, a winter 2001 exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Presently, he is working on a series of web sites for the Cultural Landscape Foundation, highlighting public spaces around the country such as Columbus Park in Chicago, Illinois, and Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Jim brings a wealth of professional experience to his role as associate professor at Emerson, and enjoys the opportunity to work with students.
“My role is to challenge them to pursue their goals and help them find the path to their success.”
