Assistant Professor of Health Communication
Throughout her career, Suzanne Suggs has been committed to better understanding the ways in which advanced communication techniques can enhance the health communication field and facilitate health behavior change. "To reconcile the idealism of science with the needs of the market is a vital goal of health communication," she says.
Citing her experience at the Oregon Center for Applied Science (ORCAS) and her PhD in Health Studies as two of her many professional accomplishments, Suzanne is no stranger to the field of health communication. She has led a number of research initiatives—from studying the effectiveness of a tailored Web- and print-based system designed to help hemophiliacs and their caregivers, to evaluating the efficacy of a tailored Web-based weight management program.
Suzanne is thrilled to have the opportunity at Emerson to educate the influential health communicators of tomorrow. “We will continue to see increased attention paid to new communication technologies and communication strategies, and we will experience a growth in the number of trained researchers and practitioners who will bring diverse interests and skills to the field.”
