Manny Paraschos

Graduate Program Director and Professor, Journalism

“I was born with ink in my veins,” says Manny Paraschos about his lifelong love of journalism. Growing up in Greece, where his family owned a small newspaper chain, Manny was immersed in the field. Able to parlay his affection for information and research into a successful career as a journalist, educator, and author (his most recent book is Media Law and Regulation in the European Union), Manny brings exceptional insight to Emerson.

Among Manny’s significant contributions to the student experience at Emerson is the Journalism Students Online Service (JSONS), a website he founded and supervises, where Emerson’s journalism students can put their work into practice through text, audio, video, and live news. Having lived all over the globe—including serving as a Fulbright Scholar in Scandinavia—Manny is impressed by Emerson’s sizeable international community. “When you’re discussing events or problems that affect many countries,” he says, “it adds a whole new dimension having people from those countries right in the classroom.”
