Journalism: Program Structure

• 44 credit hours including:
• • Four core courses
  • Two competency requirements
  • Three electives
  • Optional internship
  • Cross-media portfolio capstone or master's thesis
• Full-time enrollment (Full-time enrollment is typically 8 or 12 credits per semester.)
• Classes generally meet in the day or evening
• Fall admission
• Concentration in broadcast or print & multimedia journalism

Cross-Media Portfolio Capstone

To culminate your experience in the Journalism program, this cross-media portfolio capstone course consists of both individual and group news projects that demonstrate your ability to do professional work in reporting, writing, editing, and producing.  It is designed to allow you to develop journalistic work in a cross-media environment, while encouraging you to produce a reporting project across a variety of media using a combination of print, broadcast, and online elements.
