Why did you choose Emerson College for graduate school?

I chose Emerson because of its location in Boston, the program opportunities, and the people. Boston offers so many professional opportunities in every kind of setting and Emerson’s in-house clinic mimics that vast array. The people, though, especially in the CD department, were most influential. They are not only friendly and knowledgeable, but also accessible.

What is your favorite aspect of the Communication Sciences & Disorders MS program?

The chance to dive right into clinical work. I like to say you learn best by doing, and that’s exactly Emerson’s approach.

What do you like best about living in Boston?

There is always something to do, no matter what you’re interested in. Whether you want shopping, museums, or concerts, they’re all here.

What is the best piece of advice you would give someone considering or entering graduate school?

Visit schools. That’s the best way to really get a feeling for the environment and talk to people face-to-face about all your concerns.

Why should prospective graduate students visit Emerson?

It is such a unique school in its location and offerings that words cannot describe. Just interacting with the people here will help you get a good idea of the school and its programs.

What is the most surprising thing you've discovered about yourself in graduate school?

I have come to the realization that all this studying and work is actually for a practical goal and that everything I’m learning can be applied to current and future clients.

How do you believe your Emerson College graduate degree will affect your future?

I know that my Emerson education will prepare me to work in all areas and settings while learning about the importance of working together and as a team.
