Your interests. Marketing, advertising, public relations, sales, promotions: organizations can reach their targeted markets through a variety of methods. You want to learn more about the art of devising and executing effective communication campaigns.
Why Emerson? Our department emphasizes an integrated approach to the study of marketing communication. We teach you the basics, like writing press releases and print ads. You also learn how to plan, research, manage, design, and evaluate informational and persuasive campaigns. Along the way, you develop a keen understanding of how to coordinate marketing, advertising, and public relations as parts of an organization's overall communication strategy. And because this program is grounded in liberal arts, you also enhance your skills in critical thinking, oral communication, and research and computer applications.
Your Emerson experience. Our program is focused on career preparation. Courses balance foundational theory with authentic cases, emphasizing problem solving and encouraging participation in actual marketing campaigns for local clients. You'll have many opportunities to apply your knowledge of marketing communication, such as class projects; volunteer positions; internships; and EmComm, a student-run, faculty-advised integrated marketing agency. This is the type of practical experience that appeals to potential employers — and will help you to succeed in the fields of marketing, advertising and/or PR.
Your future. Account executive. Publicist. Brand manager. Market researcher. PR director. Whatever you want to do — or even if you're not quite sure yet — Emerson's Marketing Communication programs will help you shape your future.
