BFA vs. BA

Bachelor of Fine Arts programs are for students focused on developing specific skills and who are willing to commit to structured, intensive, studio-based training. Students considering the BFA programs must audition or interview for admission and retain their places through periodic evaluations and reviews by faculty members.

We offer BFAs in Acting, Musical Theatre, Stage/Production Management, and Theatre Design/Technology.

Bachelor of Arts programs are for students committed to studying the performing arts but also seeking to broaden their education by pursuing areas of study available in other academic departments. BA programs give you the flexibility to participate in internships or a semester of internship and study at Emerson's Los Angeles Center.

We offer BAs in Theatre Education and Theatre Studies.
