The Professional Arts Consortium (ProArts) is an association of six neighboring Boston institutions of higher education dedicated to the visual and performing arts. Its members include Berklee College of Music, the Boston Architectural Center, Boston Conservatory, Emerson College, Massachusetts College of Art, and the School of
the Museum of Fine Arts.
Incorporated in 1984, the Consortium has promoted the interconnectivity of the arts by expanding opportunities for its members and for the community. The Boston Arts Academy, for example, was created from a consortium proposal as the city's first arts high school. ProArts students also have library privileges at member institutions. They can participate in events, lectures, performances, and exhibit openings at any of the ProArts colleges.
The ProArts Consortium enhances curricular offerings through cross-registration for the students, faculty, and staff of its member institutions. Emerson students who meet prerequisites are eligible to enroll in courses on a space-available basis. (See the Emerson College Registrar's Office for details.)
